An investigation is continuing after a 27-year-old man was found dead at a caravan site on the Lincolnshire coast, in what police are now treating as a murder inquiry.

Emergency services were called at approximately 2:29pm on 27 January 2026 to Beach Estate in Ingoldmells, near Skegness, following reports that a man’s body had been discovered. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lincolnshire Police confirmed that the death was initially treated as “unexpected” while officers kept an open mind about the circumstances. However, four people, three men aged 19, 22 and 25, and one woman aged 18, were arrested on suspicion of murder. They have since been released on bail as investigations continue.

The man has now been identified as Harrison Kapala, originally from Hinckley. It is understood he had travelled to the area after being invited by individuals described as “so-called friends.”

Arrests and Ongoing Enquiries

Police have not formally named any suspects. However, information circulating locally suggests that one of the arrested men is a 22-year-old from Coventry, currently living in Birmingham. Another is believed to be a 25-year-old from Nuneaton with links to Birmingham. The identities of the remaining two individuals, a 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, have not been publicly confirmed.

Authorities have stressed that no charges have been brought at this stage and that enquiries remain ongoing. Investigators from Lincolnshire Police continue to examine the exact sequence of events leading up to Harrison’s death.

Suspicious Circumstances

Questions have emerged surrounding the location and timing of the incident. The caravan site at Beach Estate is not typically operational during this time of year, as it falls outside the usual holiday season. This has raised concerns about why Harrison was reportedly invited to travel approximately three hours from his home to an area that would have been largely closed.

Detectives are believed to be exploring all possible lines of enquiry, including how and why he was transported to the site, and who may have been present at the time.

An inquest was opened at the Coroner’s Office in Lincolnshire on 23 February 2026. However, no findings or further details have been released publicly. The results of a post-mortem examination, including toxicology tests, have not yet been disclosed.

Police have confirmed that the case is now being treated as a murder investigation.

Appeal for Information

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone who may have relevant information to come forward. They are particularly interested in dashcam, doorbell, or CCTV footage from the Ingoldmells and Beach Estate areas on 27 January.

Anyone who can assist is urged to contact police on 101 or email force.control@lincs.police.uk quoting incident 225 of 27 January 2026.

Family Tribute and Repatriation

Harrison’s body has since been repatriated to his home country of Zimbabwe. His funeral took place on 22 February 2026, attended by hundreds of mourners, including his father Time, mother Sandrah, and sister Cecilia.

Family and friends continue to seek answers about the circumstances surrounding his death.

This remains an active and developing investigation. Further updates are expected once forensic results are completed and police enquiries progress.

Peter Mandelson has been escorted from his home by police, just days after Prince Andrew’s arrest in connection with the Epstein files investigation.

The 72-year-old former ambassador is alleged to have shared sensitive government information with Jeffrey Epstein. Police were seen at one of his properties earlier this month as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police were seen arriving at Peter Mandelson’s home this afternoon before the former ambassador left in an unmarked vehicle.

The incident comes just days after Prince Andrew was arrested at his Sandringham residence on his 66th birthday, prompting searches of the ex-prince’s homes — including Royal Lodge — that lasted 11 hours. Experts say any seized devices, such as phones and laptops, are now under examination.

Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, Darren Jones, told the Commons that Mandelson’s appointment as US Ambassador is expected to be formally announced “very shortly in early March.”

The Metropolitan Police previously confirmed searches were carried out at properties in Camden and Wiltshire. Deputy Assistant Commissioner Hayley Sewart said the actions were part of an ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct in public office involving a 72-year-old man.

Documents included in the Epstein Files reportedly indicate that Mandelson, during his time in office, passed confidential information to Jeffrey Epstein.

The controversy has intensified scrutiny of Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s decision to appoint Lord Mandelson as US Ambassador last year, with several Labour MPs openly criticising the move. Sir Keir has insisted that Mandelson “lied” to him about the extent of his relationship with Epstein.

Several MPs have publicly called on the Prime Minister to resign amid the growing furore.

Australia’s Prime Minister has informed Sir Keir Starmer that his government would support proposals to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the royal line of succession.

Anthony Albanese has formally voiced his support for proposals to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the royal line of succession, confirming his position in a letter to UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

Despite being stripped of his royal titles in October amid ongoing controversy surrounding his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew remains eighth in line to the throne. The UK government is now considering whether legislation should be introduced to formally remove him from the succession.

The move follows his recent arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He was detained by Thames Valley Police and later released under investigation after approximately 11 hours. Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

Prince Andrew

Under constitutional arrangements, removing a member of the royal line of succession would require an Act of Parliament in the United Kingdom. Crucially, it would also need the backing of the 14 Commonwealth realms where King Charles III serves as head of state, including Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

In his letter, Albanese stated that Australia would support any formal proposal brought forward by the British government. He emphasised that the allegations are serious and that the legal process must proceed independently and thoroughly.

Following the arrest, King Charles said that the matter would be handled through the proper legal channels and investigated by the appropriate authorities.

A spokesperson for the UK prime minister confirmed receipt of the Australian leader’s correspondence and said the government is reviewing whether additional measures may be necessary. However, they declined to comment further due to the ongoing police investigation.

Buckingham Palace has not publicly commented on the government’s consideration of legislation to remove Andrew from the line of succession.

On Friday, Defence Minister Luke Pollard told the BBC that the move – which would prevent Andrew from ever becoming King – was the “right thing to do,” regardless of the outcome of the police investigation.

Chief Secretary to the Treasury James Murray meanwhile said “any questions in that sphere would be quite complicated”, adding that the live police investigation needed to “play out”.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage said on Monday that Parliament should not pass legislation to remove the former prince from the line of succession “until the police have finished their jobs”. He also cautioned against a “trial by media”.

Andrew was arrested at 08:00 GMT on Thursday at Sandringham, the King’s estate in Norfolk, where he has been residing since vacating Royal Lodge in Windsor earlier this year. Police searches were carried out at Sandringham and are understood to have continued at the Windsor property over the weekend.

The last time Parliament removed someone from the line of succession was in 1936, when Edward VIII and his descendants were excluded following his abdication.

Andrew has previously rejected allegations connected to Epstein and has not publicly responded to more recent claims that surfaced following the release of court documents in the United States earlier this year.

A co-founder of online fashion giant Asos died after falling from a high-rise apartment block in Thailand, police have said.

Quentin Griffiths has been named by Thai police as the man found dead on the ground in the eastern seaside city of Pattaya on 9 February.

A police investigator told the BBC Griffiths, a British passport holder, was by himself, his room was locked from the inside, and there was no trace of any break-ins at the time of the death. An autopsy did not reveal any evidence of foul play.

Griffiths co-founded Asos in 2000 and remained a significant shareholder after leaving the firm five years later.

An Asos spokesperson said: “We’re saddened to hear about the passing of Quentin, one of our original co-founders.

“He played an important role in Asos’s earliest days and we’re forever grateful for his contribution.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”

A Foreign Office spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British national who has died in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities.”

Police in Pattayatold the BBC Griffiths was found dead outside a luxury hotel where he had been staying in as a long-term resident in a suite on the 17th floor.

He was involved in two ongoing court cases that might have caused him stress, police also told the BBC.

Griffiths was separated from his second wife, a Thai national, and had reportedly been engaged in a legal dispute with her over a business they ran together, the BBC understands.

He co-founded Asos in London with Nick Robertson, Andrew Regan and Deborah Thorpe.

Its name originally stood for As Seen On Screen as it sold fashion inspired by clothing worn by TV and film stars.

It grew to become an online fashion marketplace stocking hundreds of brands as well as its own lines and at one time was valued at more than £6bn.

Its largest shareholders include Danish billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen – who owns Danish clothing giant Bestseller and Mike Ashley, owner of Frasers Group.

US President Donald Trump says the world will find out “over the next, probably, 10 days” whether the US will reach a deal with Iran or take military action.

At the first meeting of his Board of Peace in Washington DC, Trump said of negotiations with the Islamic Republic about its nuclear programme: “We have to make a meaningful deal otherwise bad things happen.”

In recent days, the US has surged military forces to the Middle East, while progress was reported at talks between American and Iranian negotiators in Switzerland.

The Iranian government has told the UN Secretary-General that it will regard US bases in the region as legitimate targets if used in any military aggression against Iran.

Tehran’s UN mission said in a letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres that Trump’s rhetoric signalled a real risk of an attack – but it said Iran did not want a war.

Democratic lawmakers, and some Republicans, have voiced opposition to any potential military action in Iran without congressional approval.

In his remarks, Trump noted that Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who is also Trump’s son-in-law, had “some very good meetings” with Iran.

“It’s proven to be, over the years, not easy to make a meaningful deal with Iran,” he said. “Otherwise bad things happen.”

One day earlier, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt warned that Iran would be “very wise” to make a deal with the US, adding that Trump was still hoping for a diplomatic solution over Tehran’s nuclear programme.

When Trump first announced the Board of Peace, it was thought to be aimed at helping end the two-year war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and oversee reconstruction.

But in the last month its mission has appeared to go beyond one conflict, with many wondering if the Trump-chaired board, made up of about two dozen countries, is meant to sideline the United Nations.

US missile and aircraft struck three Iranian nuclear facilities in June last year, and the White House was reportedly discussing new attack options this week.

American forces have been ramping up their presence in the region in recent weeks, including the deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier.

However, the BBC understands that the British government has not given permission for the US to use UK military bases to support any potential strikes on Iran.

In previous military operations in the Middle East, the US used RAF Fairford, in Gloucestershire, and the UK overseas territory of Diego Garcia, in the Indian Ocean.

Satellite images have also shown that Iran has reinforced military facilities, and the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamanei, has posted messages to social media threatening US forces.

“The US President constantly says that the US has sent a warship toward Iran. Of course, a warship is a dangerous piece of military hardware,” one of Khamenei’s posts read.

“However, more dangerous than that warship is the weapon that can send that warship to the bottom of the sea.”

Several members of US Congress have expressed opposition to any military action against Iran.

California Democrat Ro Khanna and Kentucky Republican Thomas Massie have said they will try to force a vote on the matter next week, citing the 1973 War Powers Act.

The act grants Congress the ability to check the president’s power to commit the US to armed conflict.

“A war with Iran would be catastrophic,” Khanna posted on social media. “Iran is a complex society of 90 million people with significant air defences and military capabilities.”

He also said thousands of US troops in the region “could be at risk of retaliation”.

The chances of passage in both chambers of Congress are not strong.

In January, Senate Republicans blocked a similar war powers resolution that would have required the Trump administration to obtain congressional approval before launching further military operations in Venezuela following the capture of Nicolas Maduro.

Space scientists have discovered just how much they can accomplish when they work together, with incredible feats achieved this year through collaborations with commercial industry and foreign nations.

Successful partnerships in 2022 have included the launch and calibration of the most powerful space telescope in the world and photographing the never-before-seen supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy.

Space, it says, is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mindbogglingly big it is.

Douglas Adams

Stray rocket junk in an unpredictable orbit smashed into the moon, for example, creating a new crater. And NASA’s mega moon rocket, the Space Launch System, has stumbled on its way to its first lunar mission, with the agency encountering several problems with contractors’ work during a critical test this spring.

Whether the rest of the year will include the inaugural moon-bound Artemis mission, the United States’ return to human deep space exploration, remains to be seen. Read more about the year’s biggest moments in space, so far.

James Webb Space Telescope opens for business

fully unfurled and calibrated James Webb Space Telescope
The James Webb Space Telescope will deliver its first full-color images on July 12. Credit: NASA

The most powerful observatory in space hit its mark at a destination 1 million miles from Earth in late January and unfurled its complicated, tennis court-size sun shield. Engineers have since calibrated the Webb telescope’s scientific instruments, exceeding expectations for its level of precision.

In this single galaxy of ours there are eighty-seven thousand million suns.

Arthur C. Clarke

Astronomers anticipate the telescope will stoke a golden age in our understanding of the cosmos, providing snapshots of space billions of light-years away.

On July 12, the James Webb Space Telescope, a partnership between NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Canadian Space Agency, will deliver its first full-color images. What those first cosmic targets will be is a closely guarded secret.

Webb is expected to observe some of the oldest, faintest light in the universe. The telescope will focus on a period less than 300 million years after the Big Bang, when many of the first stars and galaxies were born.

Scientists will also use the telescope to peer into the atmospheres of planets outside our solar system, called exoplanets. Discoveries out there of water and methane, for example, could be signs of potential habitability or biological activity.

Peculiar widespread Martian aurora discovered

New overview images of Mars have revealed a stunning green light show in the planet’s sky.

green wormlike aurora streaking Martian sky
Scientists believe a newly discovered Martian aurora puts green streaks in Mars’ sky. Credit: Emirates Mars Mission

Much of Mars’ atmosphere apparently has a wormlike streak, an aurora similar to the Northern Lights sometimes visible on Earth. The Martian aurora is a glowing, twisted band of ultraviolet light, stretching thousands of miles from the dayside, which faces the sun, to the back of the planet.

A United Arab Emirates Space Agency probe orbiting Mars, known as Hope, took the snapshots.

No one knows how it’s happening, given that scientists believe Mars’ magnetic field largely deteriorated billions of years ago. Magnetic fields guide high-energy streams of electrons from the sun into a planet’s atmosphere.

Astronomers take the first photo of massive Milky Way black hole

Sagittarius A* black hole
Scientists around the world worked together to take the first photo ever of Sagittarius A*, the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy. Credit: Event Horizon Telescope

At the center of the Milky Way is a giant black hole, and for the first time ever, astronomers were able to see it.

Black holes don’t have surfaces, like planets or stars. Instead, these mysterious cosmic objects have a boundary called an “event horizon,” a point of no return. If anything swoops too close to that point, it will fall inward, never to escape the hole’s gravity.

With the power of eight linked radio dishes from around the world, the Event Horizon Telescope took a picture of the shadow of the supermassive black hole known as Sagittarius A*. Hundreds of scientists from 80 institutions around the globe worked together to collect, process, and piece together fragments of data to make the picture.

Up until three years ago, any depiction of a black hole was merely an artist’s interpretation or a computer model. Now scientists have a snapshot of the real deal, which spans 27 million miles.

With financial support from the National Science Foundation and other groups, scientists plan to enhance their technology to make the image drastically sharper.
