Fatal Walthamstow Stabbing Leads to Murder Charge

A man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Walthamstow.

Eugeniu Neamtu, 58, of Westbury Road, E17, has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 February. He has been formally charged with murder.

The charge relates to the death of a man in his 60s on the evening of Friday, 20 February.

Police were called at 8.59pm to a residential address on Westbury Road, Walthamstow, following reports of a stabbing. Officers attended alongside paramedics and found a man suffering from serious chest injuries. Despite emergency treatment at the scene, he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

His family are being supported by specially trained officers.

Four men, two in their 20s and two in their 50s, were arrested on suspicion of murder later that evening. One man has since been charged, while the remaining three have been released with no further action.

The investigation is being led by homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command. Enquiries remain ongoing and officers continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
