Two men have begun prison sentences totalling nearly 80 years after opening fire on a group of people in a Wolverhampton street.

Three women were shot when a gun was fired from a car as they stood outside a bar on Frederick Street.

On Thursday, 26 February, Shaun Andrews, 24, and DeShaun White, 22, both from Wolverhampton, were jailed for a combined 78 years at Wolverhampton Crown Court. Andrews received a 40-year sentence, while White was sentenced to 38 years.

The pair were convicted of three counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Investigators established that the shots were fired from a black Seat Ibiza at around 11pm on 27 September 2024. The vehicle then left Wolverhampton via Compton Road and travelled towards Nottingham.

Firearms officers later received information that the car was heading back to the city. It was stopped two days later on Parkfield Road at the junction with Birmingham New Road.

White, the car’s registered keeper and insured driver, was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged.

Andrews, who had been a passenger in the vehicle, fled to Scotland but was later detained by officers in Manchester and also charged.

Detective Inspector Racheal Allen, from the Major Crime Unit, said the three women were still recovering from the injuries caused by the attack.

She added: “Gun crime is something we cannot tolerate on our streets. This sentencing sends a clear message that those responsible will face severe consequences and spend many years behind bars for their actions.”
